Privacy Policy for Disp.
Last updated: 2026-08-11
This Privacy Policy explains how the DISP mobile application (“DISP”, “the app”, “we”) handles information when you use it. DISP is a disposable-style film camera, published by Sime Basioli (contact: sime@sikira.co).
We designed DISP to be privacy-friendly by default: the app works entirely on your device, we do not run our own servers, we do not have user accounts, and we do not track you.
Summary
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information.
We do not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
DISP makes no network connections — the app is fully offline and sends nothing off your device.
Photos you take are saved to your device’s photo library; nothing is uploaded.
Your preferences are stored only on your device.
1. Information we process
1.1 Camera
DISP uses your device camera solely to let you take photos (NSCameraUsageDescription on iOS). Images are captured and processed entirely on your device to apply the film look. Photos are never uploaded or shared with us or any third party.
1.2 Photos
When you capture a photo, DISP saves it to your device’s photo library (NSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription on iOS). DISP requests add-only access: it can add new photos but cannot read, browse, or manage your existing library. The app has no in-app gallery.
1.3 Motion sensor data
DISP reads the device accelerometer/motion sensors to detect how you are holding the device, so it can rotate the interface and orient saved photos correctly. Motion data is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted off-device.
1.4 Preferences
The following preferences are saved in the app’s local storage on your device only:
Date stamp enabled/disabled
Onboarding completion flag
These values never leave your device and can be removed by uninstalling the app.
2. Information we do NOT collect
DISP does not collect, process, or have access to:
Your name, email, phone number, or any account identifier.
Your location, contacts, calendar, or microphone.
Your existing photos — DISP can only add new photos, it cannot read your library.
Advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID).
Analytics events, crash reports, or telemetry.
Purchase, payment, or billing information (any purchase is handled by Apple’s App Store, not by us).
Browsing history or data from other apps.
DISP has no login, no user accounts, and no ads.
3. Third-party services
DISP does not use any third-party services, SDKs, or external data providers, and makes no network connections. All image processing happens on your device using Apple’s on-device frameworks. Nothing is sent to us or to any other party.
4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area, the legal bases for processing are:
Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): for access to your device location when you grant the location permission.
Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): for local on-device processing of sensor data and preferences, which is strictly necessary to provide the app’s functionality.
You can withdraw location consent at any time via your device’s system settings. Doing so does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
5. Your rights
Because we do not collect or store your personal data on our servers, there is nothing we can access, modify, export, or delete on your behalf. You retain full control on your device:
Revoke camera access: iOS Settings → DISP → Camera.
Revoke photo-adding access: iOS Settings → DISP → Photos.
Delete local preferences: uninstall DISP to remove all locally stored data. Photos you have already saved remain in your photo library and are yours to keep or delete.
Users in the EU/EEA have rights under GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection). Users in California have rights under the CCPA (right to know, right to delete, right to opt out of sale — we do not sell data). To exercise any rights or ask questions, contact us at sime@sikira.co.
6. Data retention
We do not retain any user data on our servers because we do not operate servers. Data stored on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the app. Photos you capture are saved to your own photo library and are under your control.
7. Children’s privacy
DISP is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. In practice, the app does not collect information that could identify anyone. If you have any concerns, please contact us.
8. International data transfers
DISP makes no network requests and uses no servers, so no personal data is transferred off your device or across borders.
9. Security
DISP operates entirely offline and makes no network connections, so your images and data never travel over a network. Local preferences are stored using the platform’s standard preferences storage (iOS UserDefaults). Captured photos are saved to the system photo library.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated within the app or alongside an app update. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the revised policy.
