Privacy Policy for Slicé.
Last updated: 2026-10-15
This Privacy Policy explains how the Slicé mobile application (“Slicé”, “the app”, “we”) handles information when you use it. Slicé splits one photo into seamless slices for carousels and grids, published by Sime Basioli (contact: sime@sikira.co).
We designed Slicé to be privacy-friendly by default: the app works entirely on your device, we do not run our own servers, we do not have user accounts, and we do not track you.
Summary
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information.
We do not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
Slicé makes no network connections — the app is fully offline and sends nothing off your device.
Photos you open are processed on your device; nothing is uploaded.
Exported slices contain no location or camera metadata.
Your preferences are stored only on your device.
1. Information we process
1.1 Photos you choose
You pick a photo with the system photo picker, which runs outside the app. Slicé receives only the photo you select and cannot see the rest of your library. No permission is needed for this. Slicé reads the photo’s file name (for example “IMG_1234”) only to suggest a name for your exported slices. The photo is processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded or shared with us or any third party.
1.2 Saving to Photos
When you tap Save to Photos, Slicé saves your slices to your device’s photo library (NSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription on iOS). For this it requests add-only access: it can add new photos but cannot read, browse, or manage your existing library.
1.3 The “Slicé” album (optional)
Only if you turn on “Save to ‘Slicé’ album”, Slicé asks for full photo library access (NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription on iOS). It uses that access solely to find or create an album named “Slicé” and add your slices to it. Slicé does not read, analyse, or upload any of your other photos. The option is off by default.
1.4 Exported files
Slices are written as JPEG images (or a single PDF) with no EXIF, GPS, or camera data. They go only where you send them: your photo library, the Files app, or an app you choose in the share sheet. Once you share slices with another app or service, that party’s privacy policy applies to what you share.
1.5 Temporary files
While the export screen is open, rendered slices are kept in the app’s temporary folder on your device so that changing their order, format, or name is instant. They are deleted when you open a new photo, and any left over are removed the next time the app starts.
1.6 Preferences
The following preferences are saved in the app’s local storage on your device only:
- Slice ratio and your last custom ratio
- Layout (columns and rows)
- Output size and export format (images or PDF)
- Whether to save to the “Slicé” album, and that album’s local identifier
These values never leave your device and can be removed by uninstalling the app.
2. Information we do NOT collect
Slicé does not collect, process, or have access to:
Your name, email, phone number, or any account identifier.
Your location, contacts, calendar, or microphone.
Photos you have not picked. With the optional album access, Slicé only creates and adds to its own album.
Advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID).
Analytics events, crash reports, or telemetry.
Purchase, payment, or billing information (any purchase is handled by Apple’s App Store, not by us).
Browsing history or data from other apps.
Slicé has no login, no user accounts, and no ads.
3. Third-party services
Slicé does not use any third-party services, SDKs, or external data providers, and makes no network connections. All image processing happens on your device using Apple’s on-device frameworks. Nothing is sent to us or to any other party.
4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area, the legal bases for processing are:
Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): for photo library access, which you grant through the system permission prompts.
Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): for on-device processing of the photo you pick and of your preferences, which is strictly necessary to provide the app's functionality.
You can withdraw consent at any time in your device’s settings. Doing so does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
5. Your rights
Because we do not collect or store your personal data on our servers, there is nothing we can access, modify, export, or delete on your behalf. You retain full control on your device:
Change or revoke photo library access: iOS Settings → Slicé → Photos.
Delete local preferences and temporary files: uninstall Slicé. Slices you have already saved remain in your photo library or Files and are yours to keep or delete.
Users in the EU/EEA have rights under GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection). Users in California have rights under the CCPA (right to know, right to delete, right to opt out of sale — we do not sell data). To exercise any rights or ask questions, contact us at sime@sikira.co.
6. Data retention
We do not retain any user data on our servers because we do not operate servers. Preferences stay on your device until you uninstall the app. Temporary files are deleted as described in 1.5. Slices you save are under your control in your photo library or Files.
7. Children’s privacy
Slicé is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. In practice, the app does not collect information that could identify anyone. If you have any concerns, please contact us.
8. International data transfers
Slicé makes no network requests and uses no servers, so no personal data is transferred off your device or across borders.
9. Security
Slicé operates entirely offline and makes no network connections, so your photos and data never travel over a network because of the app. Preferences are stored using the platform’s standard preferences storage (iOS UserDefaults). Temporary files live in the app’s private sandbox, which other apps cannot access.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated within the app or alongside an app update. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the revised policy.
